What it is
Bezisterim is described by BioVie as an anti-inflammatory insulin sensitizer that binds extracellular signal-regulated kinase. Research has examined whether it can selectively inhibit inflammation-driven ERK- and NF-κB-stimulated mediators, including TNF-α, while preserving homeostatic functions.
Why inflammation and insulin signaling
Inflammation and impaired insulin signaling are implicated in neurodegenerative and post-viral conditions. BioVie is testing whether modulating these interconnected pathways can affect symptoms, biomarkers or functional outcomes.
Research program
- SUNRISE-PD: randomized, placebo-controlled Phase 2 study in early Parkinson’s disease
- ADDRESS-LC: randomized, placebo-controlled Phase 2 study in Long COVID
- Alzheimer’s disease: prior Phase 2 and Phase 3 research and exploratory analyses
- Epigenetics: exploratory DNA methylation and biological-age-associated analyses
Important context
Bezisterim is investigational. It is not approved for any use, and its safety and effectiveness have not been established. Findings from exploratory, subgroup or post hoc analyses should be interpreted cautiously and confirmed in prospective studies.
Development-stage information can change. Investigational candidates are not approved, and safety and efficacy have not been established. Review source documents and current regulatory disclosures.
